First things first, make sure you and your loved ones are all safe. Next go outside and at a safe distance and check the situation. Try to keep in mind alot of communities have overhead power. If you live in one of these communities, it’s best to stay in the front yard or anywhere the wires don’t reach. Bring a camera! Most insurance companies want pictures. Next, I always preach to my customers to check with their city to see who is a licensed tree-care company. A benefit of doing this is that the city does the work for you in checking insurance information on the company. Note: Alot of cities I work in don’t require licenses for tree-care companies. If this is the case, a proof of insurance should be obtained before any work is started. This is dangerous work and people do get hurt doing it. Don’t let yourself become liable. Finally, getting more than one quote from tree-care companies is preferred but depending on how big the storm that brought down your tree is…. Sometimes that might take more than a day and I’m sure you dont want a tree on your house any longer than it has to be.
